There is an old saying “the crisis will discover you”. When calamity hits, everything is revealed. The
Depth of your relationship with God, your knowledge of scripture, the extent of your Christian
community, the dynamics of your own family, everything! If you have laid a deep foundation and been
through many trials chances are you will fare well and even bless others as they watch how you handle
trials.
The truth is many of us will not be prepared. This may not be our fault, for we live in a fallen
world. However, there is something the crisis will discover that is our responsibility, the attitude of our
heart. At some point you will be forced to decide whether to be humble or angry and proud. Humility
seeks God’s grace and purposes in the storm. Anger and pride cause isolation and heighten anxiety. For
those who decide to be humble and seek God, a never ending flow of teachable moments will unfold.
